HI!
If you haven’t already guessed, I’m Bethany and I am a lifestyle, wedding, and portrait photographer servicing Louisville/Lexington, Kentucky! It’s important to me to form a genuine friendship with you, so here’s a little bit about me!
Let me start by answering the question I get most, which is how did I get into photography?
I got to this point in a roundabout, chaotic way. I picked up one of my mom’s cameras for the first time in high school and could not stop myself from taking it everywhere. I briefly considered pursuing photography in college, but dismissed it for a more “practical” major—political science. (Yes, you can laugh that I thought that was more practical!) After one too many mental breakdowns, I started taking photos again so I could really enjoy life again. It led to some paid shoots here and there, and I thought, “I’ll just keep this up until I have to get a ‘real’ job.” Now nearly four years later, it is my real job and I couldn’t be happier!
When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me curled up somewhere cozy reading, watching Parks and Recreation (again), or on a plane for a spontaneous trip. I’m an introverted adventurer. I like my downtime at home, but I get restless when I’m in the same environment for too long. Getting to experience new cultures and food is just a bonus! So if you’re ever in need of a photographer who is willing to travel, I. am. your. girl!
I, embarrassingly enough, let the internet tell me about myself through personality quizzes. I wasn’t going to share this information, but I feel like it’s relevant to who I am as a photographer, so it stays! I am an INFP and a dreamer—types known for their empathy and imagination. I feel deeply, and I strive to create art that makes others feel deeply too. (You can see my approach to photography here.)
I’ll leave you with what’s maybe the most important fact about myself: I love dogs more than I love people, so please feel free to bring your pups to our shoots!
